In addition to being a WWII bomber pilot and Human Potential pioneer, he was an author of many books, a Chief Editor for look magazine, and one of the most published writers for Look and Esquire Magazines.  In the 1970’s he began to learn Aikido, a Japanese martial art.  He eventually co-founded an Aikido dojo (gym) in Mill Valley California and went on to earn a 5th degree black belt.  He also traveled extensively, educating people on human potential and being a proponent of personal growth.

Time magazine referred to George as “the Grandfather of the Human Potential Movement.” He created Leonard Energy Training (LET), co-founded Integral Transformative Practice International (ITPI) and was President Emeritus of Esalen Institute. Most human potential training organizations around the world find their roots in the work and writings of George Leonard.

George developed The Samurai Game and in 1977, he copyrighted it.  George passed away in 2010 and the rights to The Samurai Game® are now owned by the Leonard Family Trust.
