The Samurai Game

Presented by Jordan Wollin

The Samurai Game® is an intense and interactive simulation where you are taken back in time to medieval Japan and play the role of ancient Samurai!

Prepare to engage in an EPIC battle!

As a participant in the The Samurai Game®, you will be a Samurai in an army that battles against an opposing army though of a series of one on one interactions in a symbolic manner.  Each battle is as much about having victory over yourself as it is defeating your opponent.  Fast paced with unpredictable outcomes, these battles allow participants to call on their inner strengths; such as perseverance, centeredness, courage, integrity, and honor.  Safety is at the forefront of the simulation and the battles are not physically intensive.  Anyone can participate.  These one on one battles continue until one army is defeated, bringing the simulation to a dramatic end!  Join us and bring out your inner warrior!

About The Samurai Game®?

This simulation is design to be a mirror for one’s life.  It gives you the opportunity to experience yourself and your reactions to dilemmas and stressful situations in an intense, but safe environment, surrounded by like-minded people that also want to gain more self-awareness.  You’ll have opportunity to use this unique experience to explore questions such as:

  • Am I living my life with integrity, honor, and dignity?
  • Am I accessing all the potential courage inside me during times of uncertainty, unfamiliarity, or stress?
  • Am I centered and balanced in my life?

After the battle is over, there will be a debrief session.  This could very well be the most important part of The Samurai Game® as it allows you to reflect on your experience and explore how to integrate your learnings into your life.  You’ll have opportunity to share with others what self-awareness you’re gaining as well as hear back from them.  Doing this through a group experience helps increase the magnitude of your integrations.  Everyone grows together!

The Samurai Game® provides a unique experience each time it is played, given the unpredictable nature of the simulation.  It’s also fascinating and fun!  Combine this with the idea that the circumstance of our lives are always changing, The Samurai Game® is an experience that can be repeated time and again to continue to pursue and practice personal growth! Get your journey started!

What benefits may I get from this experience?

There are many benefits to participating in The Samurai Game.

  • Increased awareness of your core values
  • Learn to remain committed when there is no guarantee of success
  • Gain new understanding about your patterns in life
  • Practice honor, integrity, and dignity so that you may elevate these traits in your life
  • Increase outlook on the value and vividness of life
  • And so much more!

The Samurai Game is an opportunity.  You’ll have the chance to push yourself, face yourself, and decide who you want to be as a person going forward.  Just like any other opportunity, the amount of benefit coming out of it is directly impacted by the amount of effort you put in.  Nothing has prepared you for this intense experience, but awaiting on the other side is living the life of a warrior.  Will you come challenge yourself?

Origins of The Samurai Game®

The Samurai Game® was developed by George Leonard, a WWII bomber pilot and a pioneer in the realm of human potential.  He’s been credited with coining the phrase “Human Potential Movement”.  His inspiration for developing The Samurai Game® came when he was reflecting on why so many people feel their most vivid sense of aliveness during life-or-death situations, such when he and his bomber crew were conducting missions in WWII.  He started forming the idea for a way to recreate an experience where people may be able to feel that aliveness.  The next time he was at his Aikido dojo, he led the students in the first iteration of what would become The Samurai Game®.  Over time, George refined the game, leading it to become the intense, symbolic life-or-death experience it is today!

About your Facilitator

Jordan Wollin first took The Samurai Game® as a participant under certified trainer Keith Bentz.  During Jordan’s first experience, he learned that in an attempt to “follow the rules” he placed extra restrictions on himself that limited his potential results, which lead to him to reflect on other areas of his life where he limits himself in the same way.  He also got to learn methods of mentally grounding himself, experience being present in the moment, practice mind-over-matter, and produce intentional results in events that were seemingly chance.

After his his first amazing adventure as a participant, Jordan then became support staff for Keith in The Samurai Game® multiple times, to give back and help create the experience for new participants.  It was such a fun and rewarding endeavor for him!  As Jordan continued to staff and coach various personal development courses, it became more and more clear to him that facilitating group courses aligns with his higher purpose in life.  As such, he decided to take the leap and become certified to facilitate the intense and high gravitas course that is The Samurai Game®!

Now Jordan is excited to be creating his own classes and bringing this amazing adventure to others!  He is also available to facilitate The Samurai Game® at corporate events or within larger seminar/retreat experiences.  With a service mindset, he would love to be a part of your personal growth journey as you push yourself to new limits, gain self-awareness, and develop a life of honor, integrity, dignity, and courage!

Is there physical activity in The Samurai Game?2024-12-31T02:33:44+00:00

Yes, there is light physical activity during the game prep and the game itself.  The low challenge level is such that an average person can fully participate and have a great time.  A person may still participate if they have physical impairments as there are a variety of challenges during the battle, many of which are not physical in nature.  If any activity comes up that a participant does not feel safe to engage in, they are encouraged to take care of their body!  They may become an observer during that portion.

Items to bring to class2024-12-31T05:09:19+00:00

It’s recommended that you bring water in a container with a lid, as well as snacks for the breaks.  You may bring a notebook on Sunday, though extra notebooks will be on hand if you don’t.

Recommended attire is clothing that is easy to move around in, given the physical nature of the game.  Also, an extra layer in case the facility gets cold.
